I have separated the grants into different categories – some of them can apply to all curricula while some grants must focus specifically on math, science, music, etc.

 

Grants for Various Classroom Projects

 

Donors Choose   Here's how it works: public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscopes for a biology class. Cost must be below $500

 

The NEA Foundation deadlines are February 1, June 1 and October 15 – grants up to $5000

Applications are accepted from practicing U.S. public school teachers in grades Prek-12; public school education support professionals; or faculty or staff at public higher education institutions. Proposals for work resulting in low-income and minority student success with honors, advanced placement, or other challenging curricula are particularly encouraged.

Virginia Naturally - Grants & Fundingprovides grant announcements focused on environment.

 

Mini-grants for Environmental Education – June 1 and Dec 1 deadlines – grants from $1000 to $5000

 

Math & Science

 

Toshiba America Foundation - How to Apply  

For elementary - $1000 grants due October 1st of each year

For 7-12th graders - $5000 grants or more due Feb. 1st and August 1st of each year

For grants under $5000 – deadline is year round

 

The Captain Planet Foundation Annual Deadlines – January 15, May 31, & Sept. 30.
The foundation supports projects that: 1) Promote understanding of environmental issues; 
2) Focus on hands-on involvement; 3) Involve children and young adults 6-18 (elementary through high school); 4) Promote interaction and cooperation within the group; 5) Help young people develop planning and problem solving skills; 6) Include adult supervision; 7) Commit to follow-up communication with the foundation (specific requirements are explained once the grant has been awarded).
 
Toyota Tapestry Grant for Science Deadline has passed but this one takes planning
Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Science Teachers program offers grants to K–12 science teachers for innovative projects that enhance science education in the school and/or school district. 50 large grants ($10K) and a minimum of 20 mini-grants ($2500, will be awarded each year. 
 
The Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge is the premiere National Science Competition for students in the 5th-8th grade.
Discovery Education and 3M are looking for students in grades 5-8 to inspire them with their enthusiasm for science.
