Program Overview

English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers provide instruction and academic support based on the student's individual needs. Both pull-out and in-class instructional delivery models are used to assist ELL students in grades PreK-12.

At the elementary level, ESL teachers and regular education teachers communicate regularly to maximize performance and progress for the ELL student. Page County Public Schools also provide services for eligible four-year-old (PreK) ELL students in the elementary schools.

Services are determined based on committee recommendations , as well as a yearly standardized tests called WIDA ACCESS for ELLs English Language Proficiency Test which tests in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking .
